Workshop for 9–13 year olds at Unijunior, University of Helsinki, Helsinki (Finland), April 2026

Therese Lindström Tiedemann and Lisa Södergård led a workshop for 9-13 year olds at Unijunior, University of Helsinki in April 2026.

The title of the workshop was “Vad säger språket om oss? Vad avslöjar språket om mig?”, i.e. What does language reveal about us? What does my language give a way about me?.

As part of the workshop the children created characters and wrote messages from these imaginary characters and tried to guess which made-up characters that might have written the messages from the other groups. The workshop sparked lots of interesting reflections about language and how the language you use can make it possible to identify you. It was also a wonderful opportunity to talk a bit about our work on pseudonymisation and why that is important.
